Read about the dozens of medical associations that have passed recommendations resolutions, or position papers on the medical use of marijuana:

State Governments that have Legalized Medical Marijuana

Thirty states have laws supporting medical marijuana research, access by patients to marijuana, or legal protections for persons who use marijuana under the recommendation of their physician. Twelvestates have laws that allow patients to possess and grow a limited amount of marijuana for their medical use with approval from their doctor. Religious Organizations that have Favorable Positions on Medical Marijuana

Major religious denominations including Episcopal, Methodist, and Reform Judaism, to name a few, have passed resolutions in support of a physician's obligation to heal the sick, including the right to medical marijuana in the states where it is legal.

The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) passed a resolution in June of 2006 that states that marijuana "is not properly classified" and should be made available.

Legal and Social Organizations

Organizations from the ACLU, American Bar Association, Rainbow/PUSH, and AFSCME, to the Gray Panthers, American Anthropological Society, National Black Police Officers, and Consumer Reports magazine have gone on record supporting medical marijuana and patients' right to use it without fear of arrest and prosecution. A list of medical marijuana individual supporters reads like a "who's who" of American culture. Current and former U.S. and state attorney generals, an astronaut, various political columnists, police chiefs, a former speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, a former Presidential advisor and a Secretary of State, a country music star, two conservative magazine editors, a Noble Prize winner, a former U.S. Surgeon General, and many, many others on both sides of the political fence have spoken out about the foolishness of prohibiting people with serious and terminal illnesses from using marijuana.
